JEE Exam Main How to apply?

Candidates appearing for JEE Main 2023 examination must note down the following steps to complete the online application that will be officially released on the NTA website. For each session the application filling dates will be different. While filling the online application form there are 3 steps that need to be followed

  1. Completion of registration form
  2. Uploading the necessary documents
  3. Payment of the fee for appearing in JEE Main examination

JEE Main 2023 Application form important dates

NTA will release all the details regarding the filing of application for JEE Main 2023 session 1 and 2 in its official website. Some of the important dates one should remember before applying are :

JEE Main 2023 exam Eligibility criteria

  • Candidates should check if they meet the eligibility criteria for appearing in the JEE Main examination before starting to apply.
  • Check the eligibility criteria for JEE Main examination. Candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be considered for appearing for the JEE main exam. A brief about the eligibility criterias are given below:
    • Candidates must have cleared one of the qualifying examinations mentioned by NTA.
    • Those who have passed the Class12 or the qualifying examination in 2021, 2022 or those who are appearing in 2023 are eligible for appearing in the JEE Main exam.
    • Candidates who have written the qualifying exams in 2021 or before are not eligible to appear in the JEE Main exam
    • There is no age limit for appearing in the JEE Main examination.
    • Also its not compulsory that the candidates should have scored 75% in Class 12 to appear in the JEE Main examination.

JEE Main 2023 exam Steps to apply

  • Candidates should fill out the form with correct details failing which NTA has the ability to reject incorrect or incomplete application forms. Here we are going to check out the steps for completing the online application form for the JEE Main examination.
  • Candidates should visit official website jeemain.nta.nic.in for further steps
    • Step 1- Registration form - Candidates need to fill in personal details and setup a password following which a system generated application number will be generated.
    • Make a note of the application number and Password as it will be needed for further steps in completing the online application.
    • Step 2 - Fill out the application form with personal details, choose the paper that the candidate is applying for, choose the preferred location for exam centers and educational qualification details, and other particulars as required.Check out the details of the particulars required to be filled in the application form here.
  • Candidates will be required to upload documents,
  • Step 3- Fee payment -On successful completion of Step 1 and 2, candidates can pay the fee via Net Banking, Credit card,Debit card, UPI.
  • After paying the required fee the confirmation page of the online application will be generated. It is advised to candidates to save and take a print out of the confirmation page for future reference.
  • Confirmation page will also be sent to the registered email address of the candidates.

JEE Main 2023 exam fees

  • Once the application form is filled with required details the candidates will be directed to the last step in the application process and this is payment of fee. The application fee will reflect according to the category and gender of the candidates. Payment of this fee should be done online and can be done using Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card or UPI services. Candidates will be charged processing fee and GST as applicable in addition to the exam fee. Upon successful completion of payment of fees for JEE Main 2023 exam the candidates will receive a message to their registered email and phone number. It is advised that the candidate keeps a printout of the confirmation page that will be displayed after payment has been completed.

JEE Main exam Online Application corrections facility

  • For JEE Main 2022 examination, NTA had decided to provide a 3 day window period for candidates appearing for session 1 and 2 to make any changes in their online application form. The table below shows the details of the dates that were open for candidates to make the corrections.

  • NTA might charge additional fee for corrections so students should be ready to pay the appropriate fee via Net Banking/ Credit Card / UPI.
  • Below are the particulars that can be corrected in the online application form

  • For 2023, it is better that candidates try to fill out the application form without any errors because NTA might open the correction window or not.

Points to remember while filling application

If the payment fails then the process is not completed and the candidate will not be able to download the Acknowledgement page. In this case the candidate will be required to pay the fee again through online mode and then download the acknowledgement page. The amount due to the failed transaction will be refunded back to the student after the declaration of the result of JEE Main 2023 exam .

For appearing in the JEE (Main) - 2023, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12/equivalent examination in 2021, 2022, or appearing in 2023 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) - 2023 examination. However, the candidates may be required to fulfill the age criteria of the Institute(s) in which they are desirous of taking admission.

The examination fee for JEE main 2023 can be paid through any Debit/Credit/UPI Card using SBI/Canara/ HDFC/ ICICI/Paytm on-line gateway payment facility/Net Banking.

NTA will open JEE main 2023 application form correction window which can be utilised by candidate if they made any error while filling out the online form . Candidates will login using their credentials and make the necessary changes and also pay any additional fee if mentioned using online payment methods. So it is advised to fill the form without any errors

There are chances that NTA might not provide any opportunity for candidates to make corrections but if they do so for JEE Main 2023 exam, NTA will allow the corrections to be made in online mode only.

The photo should be coloured or black/white with 80% face (without face mask) visible including ears against a white background.
