JEE Main 2023 expected changes based on 2022

  • JEE Main exam 2022 had 5 major changes when compared to the previous years and this pattern is expected to be followed in 2023. Let us compare the changes below.
  • Prior to 2022 the JEE Main exam was conducted 4 times in a year , but in 2022 it was only conducted in 2 sessions in June and July. Earlier there was only negative marking for questions pertaining to Section A, but in 2022 NTA had announced that section B will also have negative marking for incorrect answers. Another big change in 2022 was the choice of the city where the candidate can appear for the exam. Earlier the candidates had the flexibility of choosing the exam centers listed by NTA across all the states in India or abroad but now the choice of cities will be based on the permanent and present address filled during JEE Main application form. Additionally NTA has increased the number of exam centers to 514 in India and 13 abroad, earlier there were only 334 centers and 12 test centers abroad. In 2021 NTA used to assign special days for making corrections to if any occurred during the application form filling and this year there is no such facility available hence the candidates need to be very careful while filling the details. Another change is that the application form can be filled online and also candidates will be notified via SMS/Email to receive notification. In 2021 the registration was a one-step process, to ease out this in 2022 the process is split into 3 steps where first step is Registration to generate application number and password, next step is filling out the application form that includes filling out personal and other necessary details and finally the fee payment step.
