A cut-off mark is a minimum required or scaled mark for students to enroll in the institution or enter the counselling process for the institution. However, the cut-off marks range depending on the departments and courses the student chooses. Generally, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the entrance exam for IITs. Therefore, the final cut-off mark is the average of both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Furthermore, the cut-off marks vary from year to year based on the previous year's trends and the current year's seat availability for students. Also, it considers the difficulty level of the entrance exam.
