A cut-off mark is a minimum mark scored by the candidates to enter the counseling at the institution, however, the cut-off mark has two sets, qualifying cut-off and admission cut-off. Generally, National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced for admission to IITs and ISM and JEE Main for admission to NITs, however, some government institutions and government-funded technical institutions also use JEE Main for admission to their institutions. The JEE Main comprises the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in two papers, JEE Main Paper 1 and Paper 2. Therefore, the final cut-off mark is the mean values of both Paper 1 and Paper 2. However, the cut-off mark varies every year according to 1) the previous year’s cut-off trends, 2) the total number of applicants, 3) the total number of seat availability, 4) the score got by candidates, and 5) the difficulty level of the exam. However, every institution will have different cut-off marks according to its rank and course.
