IIT Kanpur Admissions

National entrance exams are the foundation for IIT Kanpur admission decisions each academic year. Candidates for the institute's flagship BTech degree are chosen based on their JEE Advanced results. The test will be given during the third week of the academic year in June. GATE results, slated for the February academic year, determine admission to the MTech program. In the academic year ending in May, there will be a formal announcement for JEE Advanced. Candidates can check the JEE Advanced syllabus in the meantime. Suppose they meet the topic requirements outlined in the eligibility criteria. In that case, candidates planning to apply for admission to various programs must do so "ONLINE" or in person, as and when advertised. It is encouraged that students continue to visit IIT Kanpur. 

Eligibility criteria:

UG Program:

  • A candidate should have completed their 10+2 graduation and should have cleared the JEE entrance exam.
  • The age of candidate should be 17 years old. 

PG Program:

  • A candidate should have passed their undergraduate program with a minimum of 55% of marks or a 5.5 CGPA. 
  • A candidate needs to attend the GATE exam. 

Selection Criteria: 

  • By considering the 12th exam result/ JEE entrance exam score, which cut-off is finalized by the institute.
  • Candidates have to register for JoSAA counseling online.
