JNTU Telangana Overview

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University was established on October 2, 1972, by an act of the State Legislature. On its formation, the government engineering colleges at Anantapur, Kakinada, and Hyderabad, along with the government college of fine arts and architecture at Hyderabad, became its constituent colleges. Subsequently, the JNTU Act 1972 was amended by the JNTU (Amendment) Ordinance, 1992 to affiliate any other college or institution notified by the A.P. State Government. Hence, JNT University is a multi-campus university with headquarters in Hyderabad.

As per Act No. 30 and Act No. 31 of 2008 dated September 24, 2008, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University was divided into four universities: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH), Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK), Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTUA), and Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad.

The full form of JNTUH is the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. It is located in Hyderabad.

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) in Hyderabad was the country's first technological university. Established on October 2nd, 1972, JNTU, Hyderabad has been providing quality technological education for nearly 49 years. JNTU, Hyderabad is located in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, and has a massive 89-acre campus. It offers postgraduate degrees in various specialisations. The university has been ranked 62nd in the NIRF Ranking of 2021 in the engineering category. It has 15 constituent units on the Hyderabad campus and 4 constituent engineering colleges spread across the campuses of Hyderabad, Sultanpur (Medak District), Manthani, and Kondagattu (Jagityal). It has 423 affiliated colleges spread over the Telangana state and has more than 3.5 lakh enrolled students. 

The sister colleges and academic units of JNTU, Hyderabad are School of Continuing and Distance Education, Kukatpally, Hyderabad;  School of Management Studies, Kukatpally, Hyderabad; School of Information Technology, Kukatpally, Hyderabad; Institute of Science & Technology, Kukatpally, Hyderabad; JNTUH College of Engineering Sultanpur, Medak District; JNTUH College of Engineering Manthani, Karimnagar District, and JNTUH College of Engineering Jagtial, Karimnagar District.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University College of Engineering, Hyderabad was established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1965. The institute is also known as JNTUHCEH. The institute was formerly known as Nagarjuna Sagar Engineering College. JNTUHCEH is affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad, and is administered under the control of the Department of Technical Education. After the establishment of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) in the year 1972, it was made a constituent college of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and was renamed to JNTU College of Engineering, Hyderabad. Computer Science Engineering, Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering, and four Sciences and Humanities Departments (Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and HSS) are the academic departments of JNTUH College of Engineering, Hyderabad, offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses to students.
