NIT Durgapur conducts the placement drive every year for the final year students. Placement drives are held for students in their seventh semester or at the start of their final year. 

The NIT Durgapur placement drive commences in the month of July, and the top recruiters are sent invitations in the month of May. 

The industries that visit NIT Durgapur are broadly categorised as academic institutions, public sector undertakings, R & D laboratories, management organisations, consultancy firms, manufacturing industries, IT/software industries, and core engineering industries.

The NIT Durgapur Placement Process

• The recruiting companies are being invited by the NIT Durgapur placement cell and the training department of the institute.
• The interested companies have to fill up the Job Announcement Form (JAF) and then submit the necessary details to the NIT Durgapur placement cell.
• The students are provided with all the necessary details of the JAF that have been provided by the respective organisations.
• For holding pre-placement talks, the company can send a request to the National Institute of Technology Durgapur placement cell.
• The students have to submit their resumes so that they can be shortlisted for the recruitment process.
• The selected students are informed and notified to appear for placement.
• The candidates will be informed of all the necessary dates for the placement drive.
• The desired company visits the campus and conducts the procedures for recruitment.
• Students who get selected in the recruitment are registered with the company.

When it comes to UG across the year placements, the institution has recorded a good sort of average percentile of 95.97 percent for the academic year 2022, whereas the percentage scores for the academic years 2021 and 2020 stood at 88.30 percent and 98.88 percent, respectively, in regards to the overall placement consortium. 

When compared to the rest of the placement programs, the institution has secured a fair sort of placement percentile for the academic years 2022, 2021, and 2020, which constitutes 87.27 percent, 65.28 percent, and 87.50 percent, respectively, for PG placements, wherein the institution has produced a good number of engineering graduates to contribute to the global as well as national economic standards of betterment.
