The Biju Patnaik Central Library of NIT Rourkela is named after the founding Chairman of the Board of Governors of REC Rourkela. The library has a robust collection of print and electronic resources and supports the research activities of students, faculty, and research scholars.

Boys Hostel: NIT Rourkela provides accommodation facilities to the students with amenities such as a common room, an indoor room, a lounge, and a dining hall with a mess. The Chief Warden is the head of the hostel organization. Each hostel has its own hall working committee. The Working Committees are composed of the General Secretary, Maintenance Secretary, Mess Secretary, Environment Secretary, Cultural Secretary, and Games & Sports Secretary. The committee decides the pattern and the pace of life of each hall.

NIT Rourkela has a football-hockey stadium, Dilip Tirkey Stadium. The stadium has a gymnasium with all modern facilities and has two instructors to help the students. The institute also has a Sachin Tendulkar Cricket Ground, a basketball court, and two tennis courts.

The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for students.

Some of the other facilities include a gymnasium, cafeteria, auditorium, medical or hospital facilities, uninterrupted Wi-Fi network connection, IT infrastructure, a swimming pool, convenience store, alumni associations, guest rooms, and bank facilities.

• Gymnasium: The college has a gym facility for the students.
• Cafetaria: NIT Rourkela has three canteens and a campus café open on all working days. The calorie canteen and SLR canteen are located between the Audio-Visual Hall and the CSE department. The hexagon canteen is located beside the hostels frequently visited by hostelers. 
• Auditorium: NIT Rourkela campus has an air-conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity of more than 1000. The institute also has a Lecture Gallery Complex with different galleries along with 12 conference rooms and an auditorium with a seating capacity of 300.
• Medical Or Hospital Facilities: The institute health centre is headed by Dr. Champak Bhattacharya and has three regular doctors. It is attached to the Apollo Pharmacy that runs 24*7 catering to students' and staff members’ medical needs. There is an ambulance facility to attend to emergencies.
• Wi-Fi Connectivity: The college has a Wi-Fi connectivity facility for students and staff.
• IT infrastructure: The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.
• Swimming Pool: NIT Rourkela offers separate swimming pool facilities for male and female students. Separate swimming coaches are available for men and women. The men’s swimming pool has all the necessary facilities to conduct international-level competitions. 
• Convenience Store: The convenience store has a post office director. The post office is located near the new substation and works all weekdays from 7.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. and from 9.00 A.M. to 2.00 P.M. on Saturdays.
• Alumni Associations: The college has a good networking for the alumni association.
• Guest Rooms: NIT Rourkela has two guest houses within the campus near the director’s bungalow – North Block Guest House and South Block Guest House. The North Block guest house has air-conditioned rooms that provide lodging facilities for institute visitors, staff members, delegates, newly appointed faculty, and participants attending various seminars and conferences. The South Block guest house has AC suites that usually accommodate institute guests. 

Bank facilities: The institute has a State Bank of India branch. The application forms for various national-level exams, such as CAT, JEE, and GATE, are made available in this bank. The SBI branch has 2 ATMs- one near the hostel area and the other one located near the main gate premises.
