A valid entrance test score, followed by a counseling session at NIT Silchar offers admission to five academic programmes -- B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc, M.B.A, and Ph.D in various disciplines.
The UG, PG, and Ph.D courses are mainly offered in engineering branches, management disciplines, basic sciences, and humanities.
Admission to the B.Tech course is made through JoSAA on the basis of the score in JEE Main. For admission to the M.Tech course, candidates have to qualify for GATE and participate in CCMT counselling.
NIT Admission to Ph.D courses is given based on the score on the written test and/or interview and/or performance in the qualifying examination evaluated by the admission committee.
NIT Silchar offers 1 main programme at the undergraduate level – B.Tech. The specialisations are offered in six main engineering disciplines – civil, electrical, mechanical, computer science, electronics and instrumentation, and electronics and communications.
NIT Silchar offers three main programs at the postgraduate level – M.Tech, M.Sc, and M.B.A. The specialisations are offered in various engineering disciplines as well as in the sciences, humanities and management disciplines. The institution holds about 825 UG students and 308 PG students.
